"Look it wasn't a global flood.."
by Qcmbr ini've heard the statement from bible apologists so many times that the global flood story of genesis was not a global flood but was probably a local flood.
this seems problematic.. this directly disagrees with the bible.
everywhere the bible internally references a global flood of worldwide scale (i'll throw in matthew 24:39 as a nt example and genesis 6:17 as a ot example.

Leolaia - In case I never get the chance to say it, You're amazing.
You're thinking skills are unprecedented in the neutral way that you present the facts. If there's ever anyone that can present factual data in an unemotional way that allows the information to speak for itself, it's you.

Paul, leading authority on Christianity, does NOT quote Jesus!
by Terry inpaul's letters practically invent christianity.. the gospels trickled in after him.. paul never walked with jesus and yet explains him.. never a quote from the master at all.. yet, paul is such a maven.. if jesus couldn't be bothered to actually reveal what he was all about to his apostles with whom he ate, drank, spoke and slept---why this persecutor, saul?.
the apostles heard every word jesus spoke and were willing to die for him.. paul didn't--yet--miraculously explained every detail of the entire history of god's purpose including his messiah.. .
can anybody provide a non-gimmick answer?.

An Fundementalist Christian says .2 words sum it all up: Progressive Revelation.
A JW says 2 words sum it all up: New Light. (Or light gets brighter),
Thanks for the reminder of what leaving the JW mindset is really about. Some are able to do it - others, it takes a little while. Not to worry, you'll come around as you mature.

Video and pictures just coming in from the world wide protest!
by koolaid-man init was thrilling to participate in the world wide protest, jan, 21-23 2011 exposing the watchtower organization for their policies on deliberately breaking up up families.
we thank all those involved this past weekend for their passion and commitment to help free those trapped in falsehood.
i am aware that many on this forum do not believe in protesting against the watchtower society, and i respect their position.

Rule # 2 - make sure you throw in a fear-based emotional plea that if people don't believe, despite no evidence, they'll be doomed.

How many elders, HLC members know CPR?
by just n from bethel inanyone who has ever taken a first aid class knows that cpr training and first aid training are basic life saving requirements for anyone in the professional medical community.
if you were ever discussing any medical choices with someone who wanted to advise you on a medical / health decision, you would want to be comfortable that if something were to happen to you all the sudden, that this person you were seeking advice from could provide basic medical aid, like cpr.
if it's a nurse or a doctor or a paramedic, you would expect that they would know what to do.

If it's a nurse or a doctor or a paramedic, you would expect that they would know what to do. It just goes without saying.
Now for JWs, when a medical situation comes up involving blood, who do they think of calling first? The elders and then possibly hlc. Yet how many of these guys are even trained in basic first aid or CPR? How many of these guys are in piss poor shape themselves? heavy drinkers? Don't work out? Eat like Crap? Yet these are the guys that millions of JWs turn to when discussing very important life or death medical decisions. Yet, if right in the middle of signing a JW having an elder sign his blood card, the JW stops breathing, the elder couldn't administer any basic help to save his life.
My wife was in pioneer school, and someone had a medical episode at lunch; neither of the pioneer school instructors knew what to do. Luckily a sister in the pioneer school was a retired nurse and saved the day.
Stop breathing? Have a heart attack? choking? You're shit out of luck. Want advice on hematology and the deep inner workings of medical use of blood - all the sudden these guys are experts that believe they can go head to head with people that have spent years studying medicine and health.

I'd say it would be like winning a huge hand in blackjack - only to be paid in monopoly money. In other words, you realized you won the game, but the prize was it's still a joke on you.
